Dr. Robert Thompson, DMD began TenderCare Dental in 1994. He loves being a dentist because of the relationship that develops long-term friendships and trust with patients.  As a Dentist, he’s about bringing more smiles to life, in a gentle and tender way.  He has also served in Okinawa, Japan in the Army Dental Corps.

He and his wife Laraine, have 7 children and a growing number of grandchildren! His son Andrew, daughter-in-law – Mari, and son-in-law, Justin, as well as other dedicated associate dentists and office personnel are part of our experienced dental team.  You will see Dr. Thompson mostly at our East Portland dental office.

“Dr. T” has continued his studies to improve his skills. He has been awarded both a Fellowship and a Mastership by the Academy of General Dentistry for his completion of continued education studies after dental school graduation. He is extremely skilled in all areas of dentistry and lately has been focusing on prosthetics such as dentures and fixed bridgework. He enjoys doing charity dental work, especially at care homes and hospitals.

In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities like swimming, hiking, boating, and camping.
