Tigard Dentist, Dr. Justin Marostica, recently visited Central Oregon for a dental convention. This was a two day event held at Eagle Crest Resort and sponsored by Advantage Dental. The Convention was attended by over one hundred dentists from all areas of the Northwest including Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
The event kicked off with keynote speaker, Burton Edelstein, DDS, MPH. Dr. Edelstein is a professor at Columbia University and Founder of the Children’s Dental Health Project. Afterwards Dr. Marostica, a Dentist in Tigard OR, attended a course by John Smith PhD, Review of Nitrous Oxide Use in Dentistry, where the proper use of Nitrous Oxide use in the dental office was review and expounded upon. This was a four hour course specifically focused on the pharmacology, side effects, and potential alternatives for Nitrous Oxide use. There was then a break for lunch where Dr. Marostica was able to meet with vendors of dental supplies and equipment.
After lunch Dr. Marostica attended two courses required to maintain a dental license in the state of Oregon. These courses focused on risk management and proper record keeping according to the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
Later that night there was a benefit dinner and auction where all proceeds went to Advantage Smiles for Kids. This is a non-profit organization that was created to improve the quality of life for low-income, at-risk children by providing the orthodontic and dental care needed to produce a happy, healthy smile. Dr. Marostica was accompanied by this wife and it just happened to be their 11 year anniversary.
On Saturday the continuing education courses continued where Dr. Marostica participated in a Medical Emergencies Course, which focused on potential emergencies that are most frequently encountered in the dental office. This was a four hour course taught by experienced dentist and EMT Dr. Douglas Smith.
This ended the dental convention for Dr. Marostica who was then able to spend the rest of Saturday and Sunday enjoying Central Oregon with is family. They were able to take a bike ride together as a family and go swimming at the many pools located within the Eagle Crest Resort. This was a great experience for one of the Top Dentist in Tigard OR and a great opportunity to continue his education in the profession he loves!
